Frequency of the City

Happen to catch Frequency of the City from arts central yesterday. This show is filmed locally, about how musicians (or people who loves music) compose and build up one work piece.

Yesterday’s episode shows 2 of them going out to record the sounds that they want, den put them together into the computer, edit and *tata* the final piece of music. Looking at the equipment invested, though simple, but I don’t think it is cheap as well. Terms that they used, chord progression (if I did not spell wrongly), are something that if you don’t learn about this subject, you don’t know what is it. Still, I show my encouragement to people who have passion to music.

As for the lyrics, I only believe in talent.

[Chorus]
前世预言再远
携手将未来应验
情人慧眼
相看七世也不厌

不要变
就算白日飞升羽化登仙
任何时遇见
都相守十万个永远

真爱能让所有的预言一一被兑现
预言能让所有的真爱经得起考验

[Rap]
雪花下我想念姑娘杏红的脸颊
梨涡浅笑不说话
不说话沉鱼落雁的刹那
繁星下五言七言述说爱情的伟大
花前月下谈婚嫁谈婚嫁

Z Generation

Teenagers adore Hitler? This thought just make me feel crazy. How far are we from that century? I am indeed surprised.

Teenagers are often very very irresponsible, rude and selfish. Best examples are the two in my house. But that’s not the point for this entry. My colleague told me she “exchange palms” with her son, and he slapped her right in her face. Do chinese culture teaches you to behave like so? I believe her heart is shattered and bleeding right now, no matter how hard she wanna be strong.

Is being INDIFFERENT the cause for everything?

Exercising

Did quite a bit of stuff these 2 weeks:

Last Saturday
Celebrated belated birthdays for Johnson, Serene and Suqin at Marina Steamboat. Still remember the guys do not know how to kill the crabs and in the end give them away to others. Chill out at one of the café at Marina. Talk till midnight before we end or gathering with group photos.

Friday
2 birthdays at Aloha, Jean’s and Mei Xin’s. Happy birthday to both of them. Longing to see my primary school classmates, but in the end, none turn up. Had a pretty good chat with Mei Xin’s mother at the gathering. Jean’s one is more happening, probably with lots of youngsters, but poly mates who turns up is quite little.

Saturday
Went to The Adelphi’s BioSkin for a radio promotion facial. As predicted, they will psycho you to buy their packages which cost thousands. But the treatment is relaxing. Coz I fall asleep in the 20 minutes shoulder massage. Wonder did I snore? Heez~

Attended another birthday celebration at Sengkang. It’s my colleague’s daughter, Shannon, 1 year old birthday. She is very cute, big eyes, chubby face. But she don’t let any of them carry her. If not, she will burst into loud cries.

I believe the focus is the cake from The Patissier, a strawberry shortcake design. I have seen variety programme recommending this shop. More like a novelty bakery, cakes nicely decorated and tastes good. Yum yum…

Sunday
Had breakfast at Clementi central before we start our badminton game. Geargina, Suqin, Terry and his girlfriend, me and Lester are there for the game. It starts from 11am to about 1.45pm. But the rental for the court is rather expensive. Ate fish and chip, but dun think it is nice.

The click parted, me and Lester went Queensway to buy our badminton rackets and my new water bottle. Was looking for a Adidas cap for quite a long time. But can’t find it also at Queensway. Spend another $80mon toiletries. Sigh…

Next weekend activity will be Bukit Timah Hill hiking.

Without Warning, Next Month, There Will Be Explosions

SOME time in November or December, bomb blasts will be heard in as many as four MRT stations here. The Ministry of Home Affairs wants to know how well- prepared Singaporeans are if terrorists strike and, unlike other SCDF exercises, Singaporeans won’t have a choice as to whether or not they want to take part.

There will be no warning, no schedule. If you happen to be a commuter at the selected stations — and the exercise is likely to take place during peak hours — Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng is waiting to see how ready you are.

“Please cooperate with us, please carry on as normal, but at the same time please play a part. But as to when it will happen, we will not say — there is no warning by terrorists before they bomb a station,” said Mr Wong in an exclusive interview with Today.

In fact, when he heard about the July 7 terror attacks on London’s subway trains, his thoughts turned naturally to Singapore.

“I thought, despite all the preparations they’ve made, it has happened to them. Which means, despite all the preparations that we’re making, or have made, it can happen to us,” said Mr Wong, who is also the Home Affairs Minister.

He commended the London authorities and Londoners for the way in which they dealt with the attacks. Would Singaporeans be as brave? “I hope they would respond the same way,” said Mr Wong.

The exercise in November may offer some clues, though officials here started taking notes much earlier.

Soon after the London blasts, a team of police officers from Singapore visited London to see what lessons could be drawn from the tragedy.

Mr Wong was coy about sharing details. “The last thing you want to do is to let the enemy know what you’re doing.”

But he added: “We’ve learned a lot. And in time, we’ll share that with others … But looking at how Londoners reacted to the bombing, and how they went about their normal lives, I think that is something Singaporeans should learn.”

His greatest fear is that if, or when, terrorists succeed in hitting Singapore, its citizens will flee. “We have to make sure that we can’t be defeated by this,” he said. “If a bomb explodes and (people) run away, I think the terrorists will have won. We cannot let ourselves be defeated by our own doing; we have to stand up and say: ‘No, we must persist and we must carry on.'” — Teo Hwee Nak

Singapore Zoological Garden

Visited the zoo yesterday. Woke up to prepare sandwiches and drinks for the trip. Reach our destination at about 10.12am.

With the help of the staff at the entrance, we manage to catch 2 shows in a row, Wonders of the Wild and Elephants At Work & Play. Rain drizzles in after the last show and we stay in the shelter for 20 minutes.

Carry on the rest of the trip and completed everything by 3pm. Catch the Polar Bear feeding time before we head to the Ben and Jerry at the entrance. We tried 3 flavours: Chunky Monkey, Black Raspberry and Chocolate Fudge Brownie with waffle dish. Yum yum~

Took some photos, mostly are on the animals. The most memorable animal is the Hippo. Coz he sleeps so near the glass panel, sleep-shake a bit and we can see him clearly.

Asia Pacific Conference 2005

It has been a week after the conference. Trying to recall what had happen in the 4 days 3 nights event…

20 September 2005
All delegates should be checking-in to The Sentosa Resort & Spa – A Beaufort Hotel. Met Joyce and Raymond at the hotel lobby to finalise everything.

As some of them checked-in earlier yesterday, we are not able to hand out the goodies bags to them in time. Joyce has generously offered the house-keeping to put the bags at the counter. Phew~ While me back in my room, enjoy a short break with the Cartoon Network. You know what? My room is all to myself. The bed is as big as you can put 3 pillows horizontally across. I have a bathtub and a big dressing table all to myself.

Tonight is the Cocktail function by Singapore office. Have to wear formal business wear. They are giving away combo drive for door gifts. People who has responded and attended to the cocktail is miserable. Everything is so boring. Me and Zie wander off shortly at the hotel lounge.

Was told to prepare popcorn very last minute for tomorrow’s presentation – a surprise for the delegates to keep them awake after lunch. Chan fetched me to the Holland Village’s 24 hours Cold Storage to hunt for them.

21 September 2005
First day to conference, wake up early to setup the PC and projector with the engineering department people from the hotel. Breakfast at The Terrace, quite a boring spread I thought. Everything runs smoothly throughout, both me and Zie are happily enjoying the 2 tea-breaks during the day. Basically, endless eating from: breakfast to morning tea-break to lunch to afternoon tea-break and dinner.

Tonight’s dinner is interesting. We are going to the Night Safari. Supposedly to arrange for Gourmet Tram, but the maximum it can take is 38 pax. We are overshot by 2.

Anyway, had a welcome drink and was presented with 2 animals: yellow snake and owl at the tram station. Board the tram for at least 20 minutes and see quite a bit of animals. The whole team are separated into 2 groups before we proceed on to a 30 minutes guided Leopard Trail. Yup… All on foot~ At this particular spot, where we see fruit bats and flying monkeys, we have to walk through the trails all alone. Nah~ Din see the tiny winy fruit bats, but the flying monkeys just hang themselves on the trees at our eye level. So big~

Dinner are setup specially for us. I was given a bag of soft toys to share with Zie. Keke~ The last part of it was another 20 minutes tram ride to continue the trail.

It’s funny to see one of my bosses to get so high, wanting the rest of the directors to join her at Safra Mount Faber for karaoke tomorrow nite.

22 September 2005
Last day of the conference to the delegates, but It was only my second last day here. Presentations running in the first half of the day, while ‘The Apprentice’ team break up has just started after lunch.

A coordinator was engaged for this. He did a little demonstration on our delegates, to reflect some human body indicators, on how strong our beliefs are. Very amaze by the result. The most interesting part comes after next as we had role-playing session where 2 of the representatives will pose as difficult clients. So these groups had to perform well in the interview and provide a best solution in the end of the day. Winning team each receive a Creative MP3 player.

Last night dinner was held at the Mount Faber. Took the cable car from Cable Car Station Harbour Front to Mount Faber. Pretty romantic there. Well… I would say the food wasn’t as appetising to me.

Chan came over at night and stay till the next day.

23 September 2005
Oversleep a little. Luckily I prepared everything before I turn in. Phew~ Had our breakfast at The Terrace and met some of the departing colleagues.

I had my last meeting till 12pm before I pack up and leave for the office.

A farewell dinner for Aileen at Plaza Singapura, Mahanttan Fish Market. She will be leaving the company and work in a kindergarten.

24 September 2005
Fanny celebrated his baby, Benjamin, first month. Had a buffet gathering at her condo’s function room. Hmm… We nearly lose our way. Brought Chan along and introduce to the rest of the colleagues. Edel and Catherine was telling him “These are the aunties she mixed around in the office.” Kekeke~ But they are nice people, young at heart.

Some of the photos taken during the conference.

To Be Inspired…

Thursday
There are countless thoughts in my small tiny brain. All about excelling and changing my attitudes towards the big term, DESIGN.

Suddenly feel a strong urge and motivation to upgrade myself. So much so that I wanted to join a career, FOREVER LEARNING career. And seriously, I am a little bit greedy now. Hunger for books, hunger for knowledge, hunger for experience and hunger for exposure.

Wanted to expose myself to photography, had a little guidance and advise from everywhere. Beleive photography can value-add to my design. Gotta dig my head into books after this September conference. Also, the IDN conference this year at Suntec and Expo. Very keen to go.

Friday
Today is Xing Cai’s last nite on the main land. He will be serving the nation from now on. Went to Gone Fishing at Hillview. Surprisingly, in such a terrace estate, you are able to find such a cafe. I would say it is rather relax and carefree, no fanciful decoration and most of all, food there is nice. Had a little chat with the 2 shop assistants, very friendly and chatty. The boss, Kenny, too.

Saturday
Take up nailart classes at Choa Chu Kang CC. A bit lonely going alone. See pople in 2s or 3s. Hmm… But some of the aunties are fine. Many had attend classes by the instructor.

What i have learnt: how to correctly paint your nails, how to draw the nail art, how to enhance the nail art with the help of glitters, diamonds and other decorative materials.

Most of the material can be purchased in the bookstores. Rather inexpensive. Well… The rest is left for your creativity. These are my first nail art. Ugly~

Sunrise – Norah Jones

Sunrise
Sunrise
Looks like morning in your eyes
But the clock’s held 9:15 for hours

Sunrise
Sunrise
Couldn’t tempt us if it tried
Cuz the afternoon’s already come and gone

And I said
Hooo, hooo, hooo
To you

Surprise
Surprise
Couldn’t find it in your eyes
But I’m sure it’s written all over my face

Surprise
Surprise
Never something I could hide
When I see we made it through another day

Then I say
Hooo, hooo, hooo
To you

And now the night
Will throw its cover down, ooo, on me again
Ooh, and if I’m right
It’s the only way to bring me back

Hooo, hooo, hooo
To you
Hooo, yeah, hooo, hooo
To you

June Belated Birthday

Had dinner with June at Jurong Point. It was suppose to make up for her birthday celebration that i can’t make it the other week. Bought her a necklace and hope she likes it. And a card to remind her not to drink too much? If not she will be going around stripping other men.

We had dinner at Crystal Jade Kitchen and there is nothing more we can do than gossip. Hahaha~ She has been quite mean as well actually, quite in tune with me. The usual people we talk about. Lalala~ We even took some pictures. Ermm… Most of them are my solos, wonder what she is doing with them? Kinda worried… Can i edit them pictures before you post them on your blog? Kekeke~

Walk around and settled down again at MacDonald. Trying to check-out her life in university. “Pretty hard to find friends that you clicked. Many from the JCs entry had their clicks formed long time before. Group mates for group projects are randomly grouped, only some projects you may choose and pick your members.” she mentioned. Well… Well…

I just reached home a couple of minutes earlier than Zhen. Heard a different voice, feel a different company when ‘he’ send her home. Trying to make funny noises to capture his attention and look up to my window. Nah~ Din succeed. I tried my best not to be too stern when talk about her relationship, dun really want to end up in loud shouting. Wonder at your age of 19, what do you pursue in a relationship?
