We approached one of the staff, nearer to us, and ask him to take the product down for us. He is wearing an orange color t-shirt which is significantly different from the rest of the staff there (they wore black) and he do not bear a name tag but just the word “Promoter” so we assumed he might be a part time staff working on the weekends.
Judging from his reply stated on top, he is not very sure of the product himself either. To make matter worst, he has problem communicating with us. He seems to have problem understanding our English and his replies in English to us are often very short.

Been craving for Ken’s creation after previous gathering.

Added brooch backing to an existing badge thingy that I’ve bought from a bazzar.
Sew my own ribbon, accessories is from an old earring.
Beads and buttons from a purse and diamond in the centre from my old earring.
My mum prepares me tonic soup because I’ve not been sleeping a lot.
We keep our voices real soft not to awake that sleeping dog. But once the soup is out, he is sitting beside me.
Pipi wants to drink my tonic soup.
Still in search for the best strawberry shortcake, this time we’ve tried one from Bakerzin.
Definitely better than River Gauche’s one. Bakerzin’s strawberry shortcake has more of the creamy taste. The usual combination of cream spreads (pardon my terminology, may not be the best), strawberries and sponge cake, the cake is soft and the cream is light. Not a lot of strawberries underlying between the cakes though and after several spoonful bites, you just feel as though it’s just another similar one.

At the same time, Bakerzin is having a monthly promotion with their blueberry cheesecake, 50% off regular price. Promotion ends this October 2009. So, we bought another extra cake.
I am not used to eating really soft cheesecake, Bakerzin’s one seems to taste so. Be warned: I’ve chilled it before consumption. It has a very thin and insignificant crust base, so the salty-ness from the crust is missing. Somehow I like the blend of salty and sweet in cheesecake which subconsciously reduces the “jerlad-ness” from the cheese.
I think so far Lester’s mum recipe is still makes the best cheesecake. If want you really some sweetness, especially when you are making a plain cheesecake, you may consider putting small amount of white chocolate. It just make the taste thicker and fuller.
Bakerzin’s Blueberry Cheesecake
My school has this jewellery casting workshop on Saturday. The jewellery is cast from cuttlefish bones.
Here is how we do it.
Cuttlefish bones.
Trim off the edges of the bones as they curl inwards.
Cuttlefish bone has a contour. Locate the highest point and saw the bone into 2 pieces.
Sand the bones in circular motion to achieve a fair bit of flat surface.
Flat surface.
Find yourself a small object to cast the mold.
As cuttlefish bone is really soft, you can pressing your object in. If it doesn’t leave enough impression (depth), do carve a little of the material out. I’ve to slit small lines so that the molten silver can reach the tiny detailed ends.
As I am doing a single side casting, I’ll just need to brush the other piece of bone with dry brushes to create air vents. Jewelleries with such wavy patterns denote that they are cast from cuttlefish bones.
Cut openings on both sides to allow molten silver to flow in. Secure the mold with masking tape.
The torching equipments.
Secure your mold.
Torch the silver in ceramic bowl.
Pour the molten silver into the mold’s opening. Keep the mold upright.
Observe the mold through the red button. The mold is ready to take it apart only when the button turns grey.
The button has turned grey but it’s still hot. Remove the mold and cool it in water.

Saw away the excess and button.

My casting weighs 2.8 grams. And I’ve to pay for the material used.
Shiny silver after a water bathe in alum (alkaline).
It isn’t an easy process actually, very much of these are assisted by the instructors who are present. Especially when designing the cast, you’ll need to plan. One of the considerations to make design feasible is to consider if the molten silver can flow into the corners and turns. After all, the molten silver is not like the runny water, it’s much thicker.
2 insanely crazy zhar bor take only 5 minutes to decide on concert tickets booking 3 months ago. Here we are, 3 months later at Max Pavilion for Ronald Cheng and Willaim So’s concert. Both our secondary school idols, we are really excited about the concert. We even spam their songs in our mp3 players before this event.
William kicks off the concert by going to the audience area in his first song. So we ran to him to get close up shots of him and we never return to our seats. We sit at another more expensive category’s seats because they are empty. We at least ran out from our seats 3 times throughout the concert. The other 2 times are when Ronald enters the stage from the audience area, the last time is during the encore. We practically run all about to catch the stars.
A little disappointed with the lighting in Max Pavilion. We have very lousy pictures taken. We also expect more classic songs from them but nah… Encore is very short and we can’t remember what songs they sing. So we conclude that we can’t get the best out of the best from combine concert.

First ever F1 Rocks Concert at Fort Canning Park. It’s a 3 days music event, 24 to 26 September 2009, with artists from various countries. We got the tickets for 24th September 2009, starring Da Mouth, Soda Green, A-Mei and Jacky Cheung.
The “door” opens at 5pm, but there are die-hard fans already queuing at 7am in the morning. Anyway, took us some time to even reach the security checkpoint and the queue ushering sucks. For people who have tickets for the next 2 days, tips for you. No food and drinks are allowed into the venue, you can come bagless to join the express lane with only body checks, no need to bring mat because you will be standing. Drinks sold there are insanely expensive: soft drinks and juices for $5, mineral water and red bull for $4, also includes alcoholic drinks and food. Oh by the way, we are standing right in front =D
One thing great about Fort Canning venue is that the terrain slopes downwards (like cinema theatre), stage is at the bottom of the terrain. So at any point you stand, you can see the performance. We manage to reach the grassland at around 5.38pm, saw A-Mei and Soda Green rehearsing their bits.
Concert commerce late, around 7:20pm with first performance by Da Mouth. Next is Soda Green. Halfway through, the sound system just kaboomz, no sound. A-Mei’s performance is terrific, but she sang mainly her new songs. The preparation of equipment for Jacky Cheung’s appearance took damn long which we don’t know why. The humble singer apologises on behalf of the crew for the waiting. There is an encore, hinted by Jacky, we should shout for that. Cute little old man. Concert lasted till 12am, around there.
